Invented by a Unitarian– Evolved by the UUA

Mamas_Day_14When Unitarian Julia Ward Howe founded Mother’s Day for Peace in the 1870’s as an antiwar rallying cry she probably didn’t imagine Anna Jarvis’ touching memorial to her mother – and the countless sappy cards it has bequeathed would overtake the original intent of this day. Well, the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) aims to take back this day!

Mama’s Day is one way the UUA promotes social and reproductive justicediscover what else we do to make a better future and take action with us!

Mama’s Day, Sunday, May 11, 2014, celebrates all mamas – trans mamas, immigrant mamas, single mamas, lesbian mamas, young mamas, and others. It’s opportunity to take action to create the conditions so that all families can thrive.
