At the time this post was published, there were a mere 270 days before thousands of Unitarian Universalists would gather from around the nation to learn, worship and do business together at General Assembly 2016 in Columbus, OH.

This year’s Sr. Dean, Andrea Briscoe, and Jr. Dean Eric Broner will be spending each of those days joyously laboring over creating the best Youth Caucus experience yet.

Please give them a hearty welcome!

IMG_3545Bio: My name is Andrea Briscoe and I live in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I’m 16 and currently a junior in high school.

UU profile: I’m a member of Main Line Unitarian Church where I served on the Board of Trustees as the youth observer last year. I’m a co-chair of the Joseph Priestley district youth steering committee as well as a chaplain for JPD cons. I will also be Dean of the upcoming Central Eastern Regional youth conference. I’m a Unitarian Universalist Association Luminary Leader and also a recent graduate of the Unitarian Universalist College of Social Justice (UUCSJ) Activate New Orleans program where I fell in love with social justice work and ministry.

What I’m most excited about: My favorite thing about General Assembly (GA) is everyone leaves feeling as though they have been revitalized. GA for me is where I feel like I grow the most throughout the year and countless others have told me the same. It’s because at GA we can let go, be held, and learn and grow with the beloved community supporting us. I hope this year at GA everyone will be able to leave with this same feeling as well as challenge themselves in ways they may not be able to in other communities. I think General Assembly 2016 in Columbus will be an incredible and truly unique GA that you will not want to miss!

eric bronerBio: My name is Eric Broner and I’m a 16 year old Georgian Unitarian-Universalist who attends the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Atlanta (UUCA).

UU Profile: I became a UU after moving to Atlanta in 2008, and came to UUism from the Episcopal Church. Since I completed Coming of Age, I’ve has been active in the youth program at UUCA, serving in a leadership role for three years now. I am a Luminary Leader and have worked with the multicultural Be The Change curriculum, and helped facilitate workshops to train youth advisors in the Southeast.

What I’m most excited about: I am most looking forward to helping foster an environment where youth feel essential as UUs, inspired to make change in the world through their faith, and grateful for the relationships they have formed from attending the youth caucus.
