General Assembly Competitive Grants for Youth

GA_13_Y_CaucusA limited number of $1000 competitive grants are available to youth groups that are organizing to attend GA together. To qualify, groups must have at least five participants from the same congregation. Applications will be judged by a group’s demonstrated ability to raise the additional funds necessary to attend GA, and the ways in which the group will use their GA experience to enhance their congregation or community life.

Youth in groups who are applying for these grants may still apply for individual financial aid awards under the Youth and Young Adult Scholarship  and General Assembly Planning Committee Matching Grants programs. However, we ask that groups indicate on their Youth Group Grant application which youth (or young adults) are also applying for individual awards.

Grant applications received by March 31, 2013 will be given priority. Grant applications received after the deadline will still be reviewed for the available funding. Don’t let the deadlines keep you from applying – even if the deadlines have passed!

Get more information and download an application here (PDF, 2 pages) and on our blog Blue Boat.

  1. Rev. Dr. Michael Tino says:

Small congregations are going to have a very hard time sending five youth to GA. Is there anything like this for smaller congregations?

  2. Carey McDonald says:

    Hi Michael,

We’d be happy to consider applications from congregations whose youth groups are smaller, if the whole group or a major part of the group is in fact organizing to attend together. Also, keep in mind all youth are able to apply for individual scholarships.
