Youth Caucus is a Community
It’s a go for community!
General Assembly begins next week and one of the things that many youth comment on after GA is how much they appreciated the Youth Caucus community. The youth and adults on the volunteer staff work hard to create a space where youth can bring their full selves, get to know one another and create connections that carry on beyond the five days.
As the Youth Caucus staff finishes their preparations, I want to share with you some of what they’ve said about the youth community at GA:
“I am most excited to see youth from all over the country come together to create our own community. It’s always amazing to see the youth who bring ideas and traditions unique to their regions, districts or congregations, and put them on display for people from all over the country to experience.” Owen, Dean
“I am so excited to build community with everyone in the youth caucus. Coming together for general assembly is a unique opportunity for youth to network and support each other. I really believe that this community has the potential to nurture youth leadership and strengthen everyone’s commitment to Unitarian Universalism. I can’t wait to be a part of the energy and joy that embodies both GA and specifically the youth caucus.” Jaimie, Worship Coordinator
“I want [you] to know that the Youth Caucus staff will be working our hardest throughout the week to address any concerns or problems. If you have any problems, come talk to one of us. I personally am so excited to be a part of creating the intentionally inclusive community that GA Youth Caucus aspires to be.” Rianna, Chaplain
And who helps keep our community healthy?
The Youth Caucus Chaplains are a team that is available to you at any point during GA if you want to talk, need to process an experience or need some help. They also want to hear about all the great things that are going on at GA. Additionally, they keep an eye on the community energy as a whole and work throughout GA to keep our community connected.
This year, our chaplains are
Rianna Johnson-Levy from First UU of Ann Arbor
Phoebe Masterson-Eckart from First UU Society of San Francisco
Sarah Gillespie from Rochester, NY
Kevin Ring from First Unitarian Church of Lynchburg
Get to know them in the Meet your Youth Caucus Staff section of the Youth Packet for GA.
