Never before has there been such a comprehensive resource for all types of youth ministry! Never before have you been able to get trained in youth ministry every month of the year, from your couch!
This series of webinars is geared towards ministers, religious educators, congregational staff and lay leaders. Primary materials draw from the Competencies for Ministry to/with Youth, and professional expertise across our UUA. Each webinar is 75 minutes long. The first webinar is Intro to Competencies for Ministry To/With Youth.
No matter where you live or your role in youth ministry, this is intended to serve volunteers and paid staff serving in youth ministry and religious professionals who support or supervise youth ministry staff and volunteers. This webinar is especially useful for adults new to youth ministry. You will learn the basic components of:
- Forming healthy relationships and shared leadership with youth
- Creating a safer youth program
- Providing appropriate pastoral care and interventions
- Creating an inclusive youth ministry
- Planning, leading, facilitating and communicating in a youth ministry context
- Major models and content of youth programming
- The importance of developing self-knowledge and presence
- Functioning on a team

This sounds like a terrific program but I cannot make the times listed. Will it be available in recorded form? If not currently planned could you consider doing so?

I would love to offer these webinars to my youth advisors, but both of the times offered are in the middle of the standard 9-5 workday for us west coast folks. To echo Bill’s request, is there any way to have a recorded version available? Thanks!
Yes recordings will be available at uua.org/ymwebinars. The webinars are hosted by Zoom, an app that’s also available on mobile devices. Since 8pm EDT is 5pm PDT, your advisors could tune in to the webinar by calling in or loading it on their smartphones as they make their way home, then switch to their desktop. Not ideal, but if they want to catch it live, that’s a possibility.
